Happy Birthday, Riots!

I didn’t realize until today that I share a birthday with Daniel Day-Lewis and Jerry Seinfeld. And the 1992 Los Angeles riots started on my birthday. Happy birthday, Daniel. Happy birthday, Jerry. Happy birthday, riots — you’ll be a teenager soon.

Also born on this day: Andre Agassi, Uma Thurman, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dale Earnhardt, Duke Ellington, and William Randolph Hearst. And in 1945, Dachau was liberated.

The Red Sox will play two games in honor of me today. (That’s how I’m thinking of it, at least.) Unfortunately, Byung-Hyun Kim will be pitching one of them. In Boston. Where he famously gave the fans the finger late last year and then mysteriously came down with an injury for the rest of the season.

In four months, I’ll have the same age as a long-playing record has revolutions per minute. Something to think about.
