No More Monkey Sex

Because I believe dead horses should be beaten, Snob heroine Dahlia Lithwick writes an amusing but bitter piece on the topic of the U.S. Supreme Court and the death penalty.

Some nuggets:

  • “There will be no more monkey sex in this story.”
  • “Scalia will not let his powers to do evil be used for good.”
  • “It’s just easier for the justices to live on the left side of the screen, where everything is simple and clean.”
I don’t believe in the death penalty, although I have been convinced that it’s appropriate for people who murder while serving prison terms. The Illinois Commission on Capital Punishment issued a report that should be required reading for anybody genuinely interested in the intricacies of the death penalty, the problems with its application, and ideas for fixing the system.
